[For people unfamiliar with the character: this is the villainous character Dark Matter from the Kirby games series [original design]. Appears in the game "Kirby's Dreamland 3"]

This piece was inspired by (and the title was also shamelessly stolen from) the song "Dark Matter's Last Glide and Rest" [link] (although the download version imo is better and is the one I've mostly been listening to). And yes, I know that it's actually Zero's theme remixed, but… The impression I got from that song was that it describes the state of Dark Matter before it dies and gives way to Zero in KDL3.

The tears? I don't know. It was just an idea that came to me at the time. Maybe Dark Matter realizes––as it resides in this dream-like stasis prior to its impending doom––that it has been devoid of something all its life?

Technique: Digitally painted from scratch

Tools: Photoshop CS4 and Wacom tablet

Original resolution: 5815x3753 pixels

Time taken: why do I even bother writing this, since I never seem to know?
